All attorneys at Lewis Babcock honored in 2027 “Best Lawyers in America”

August 24, 2026

Once again, all three partners at Lewis Babcock are included in “The Best Lawyers in America®,” an annual directory of the country’s leading attorneys.

The 2027 edition released today includes honors for the Lewis Babcock attorneys in Columbia in seven different practice areas:

Keith Babcock: Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law; Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law; and Legal Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs.

Joseph Berry: Commercial Litigation; Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law; and Litigation – Real Estate.

Ariail E. King: Appellate Practice and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Action – Plaintiffs.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that all three have been included in either “Best Lawyers” or its companion piece for attorneys with less than 10 years’ practice, “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.”

Firm co-founder Keith Babcock has been included in every “Best Lawyers” edition since 2007. Ariail King has earned honors in four consecutive editions. Joseph Berry is honored for a second time in “Best Lawyers” after previously being included in three editions of “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.”

For more than 40 years, “Best Lawyers” has aimed to capture a consensus opinion about the abilities of other attorneys in the same practice area and same cities. The “Best Lawyers” selection process begins with a nomination, followed by peer voting. The “Best Lawyers” staff conducts independent research before final selections are made.

A related directory, “Best Law Firms®,” is released every November. In the 2026 edition, Lewis Babcock was named a Tier 1 firm in Columbia for Ethics and Professional Responsibility Law, and a Tier 2 firm in Columbia for Appellate Practice and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Action – Plaintiffs.
