Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter hiring shelter attendants

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter is accepting applications for full-time and part-time shelter attendant positions, the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office announced recently.

Shelter attendants handle the daily care of animals housed at the facility, with responsibility for their safety, comfort and well-being while they wait to be placed in permanent homes. The work involves feeding, cleaning, monitoring animal health and helping keep the shelter running from day to day.

The sheriff’s office said it is looking for dependable, hardworking applicants who bring compassion for animals to the job and who recognize that animal care requires patience, consistency and a willingness to work as part of a team. Officials said the ideal candidates are people who want to make a difference for animals in the community.

“The people who work in our shelter give these animals steady care and a little kindness on some of their hardest days,” Sheriff Don Reynolds said. “It takes a certain kind of person to do that work well, and we are grateful for every one of them. If you have a heart for animals and you are willing to put in the effort, we would like to hear from you.”

Applications can be downloaded and printed from the Career Opportunities section of the sheriff’s office website at laurenscountysheriff.org. Printed applications are also available in person at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

The shelter serves as the county’s primary intake point for stray, surrendered and seized animals, and staff members work alongside volunteers and rescue partners to move animals into adoptive homes.
