New veteran-owned eatery brings Puerto Rican and Filipino flavors to Simpsonville

A new cross-cultural dining destination has quietly opened its doors along the Golden Strip, blending the vibrant culinary traditions of the Caribbean and the Pacific under one roof.

Potato Joe’s & Kusina Latina, located at 430 SE Main Street (Suite C), officially launched operations in late May. The family-run, veteran-owned restaurant was founded to share authentic cultural roots with the Upstate community through fresh, scratch-made homestyle cooking.

A fusion of Caribbean and Pacific traditions

Represented visually by the flags of Puerto Rico and the Philippines, the eatery’s menu bridges two distinct global food cultures that share deep historical and flavor connections.

Diners will find a lineup of authentic comfort staples:

• Filipino Classics: Traditional favorites including pancit (stir-fried noodles topped with scallions), savory lumpia (crispy spring rolls), Filipino-style grilled meat skewers, adobo, and ube-infused desserts topped with leche flan.

• Puerto Rican Specialties: Island staples featuring tostones (fried green plantains), mofongo served alongside seasoned meats, arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas), roasted pork, and rich caramel flan.

Potato Joe’s & Kusina Latina is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (closed Mondays).
