Boeing renews $100,000 investment in CCSD career exploration

Boeing is renewing its support of Charleston County School District students with a second consecutive $100,000 investment aimed at connecting students with advanced manufacturing careers across the Charleston region.

The funding will support career exploration field trips and career discovery camps during the 2026-27 school year, giving middle and high school students hands-on exposure to manufacturing facilities, industry professionals and career opportunities.

During the program’s first year, more than 700 students from 16 CCSD middle and high schools visited advanced manufacturing operations, including Boeing, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Cummins and XscapeWorks. The experiences introduced students to modern manufacturing environments and career pathways available in the Charleston area.

“Our region offers tremendous career opportunities in advanced manufacturing, and we want our students to understand that those opportunities are within their reach,” said Chad Vail, CCSD’s work-based learning partnerships coordinator.

With Boeing’s renewed support, CCSD plans to expand the program during the 2026-27 school year. Students will participate in hands-on learning, interact with industry professionals and explore the technology and skills driving advanced manufacturing, with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.
