City of Georgetown recruits volunteers for boards and commissions vacancies
August 28, 2026The City of Georgetown is actively seeking civic-minded community members to serve on several municipal boards and commissions. Serving on a board or commission offers residents a direct opportunity to contribute to local governance, shape community initiatives, and guide policy decisions across various city functions.
Each appointed body serves a unique purpose, with varying term lengths and eligibility requirements:

ATAX/HTAX Committee: 1 vacancy (Cultural, 2-year term); 1 vacancy (At-Large, 2-year term)

Arts & Cultural Commission: 1 vacancy (Unexpired term ending 03/2029)

Community Appearance Board: 1 vacancy (4-year term)

Construction Board of Appeals: 1 vacancy (Resident/Citizen of City of Georgetown, 5-year term); 1 vacancy (Fire Protection Engineer, 5-year term)

Keep Georgetown Beautiful: 3 vacancies (At-Large, 2-year terms); 1 vacancy (Business/Industry Representative within city limits, 2-year term); 1 vacancy (Civic Organization, 2-year term)

Applicant Guidelines & Requirements
Per the City’s Boards, Commissions, and Committees Policies, Procedures, and Requirements Handbook, applicants may only apply for one board at a time and must reside within the city limits. Appointees are also expected to attend scheduled meetings regularly.
