Friendship Place appeals to community to help stock hygiene bags

August 28, 2026

Friendship Place, Inc.(opens in new tab) is calling on community members to help support neighbors and local families facing financial hardship as the demand for monthly hygiene essential bags continues to grow.

Access to basic personal care products remains a critical need for low-income residents in the Georgetown area. To keep up with community needs, Friendship Place is seeking donations of new, unused hygiene items to assemble monthly care packages.

Items requested include shampoo and conditioner, body wash, bar soap, deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene products, razors and shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste and toilet paper. Individuals can drop off these contributions directly to Friendship Place at 1423 Front Street, Georgetown, SC.

The nonprofit organization also welcomes online contributions for this initiative at www.friendshipplaceinc.org(opens in new tab). And local residents and groups interested in offering their time can contact the organization by phone at (843) 545-1115.

About Friendship Place

Since 1999, Friendship Place has been a place of refuge and hope for the Georgetown, SC community. Although our mission is well-known by our daily meals program, each day, individuals and families walk through our doors carrying heavy burdens: food insecurity, housing instability, job loss, recovery journeys, and life transitions they never expected. Through spiritual care and life-changing resources, we meet people where they are and help them move from crisis toward stability.
