SC Optometric Physicians elect 2026-2027 board of directors

The South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association (SCOPA) elected their new board of directors at the Association’s 119th Annual Meeting, held August 20–22, 2026, at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa.
Dr. Shaye Hurd was elected president of SCOPA and will lead the association’s efforts to advance the profession of Optometry, strengthen access to comprehensive eye and vision care and support Optometric Physicians throughout South Carolina. “It is an honor to serve as President of the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association,” said Dr. Hurd. “SCOPA has a strong history of advocating for our patients and profession. I look forward to working alongside our officers, directors and members to expand access to high-quality eye care and protect the vision health of South Carolinians in every part of our state.”
SCOPA’s 2026–2027 officers are:
- President: Dr. Shaye Hurd
- President-Elect: Dr. Jennifer Lesslie
- Vice President: Dr. Philip Flynn
- Secretary/Treasurer: Dr. Karen Mak
- Immediate Past President: Dr. Kevin Campbell
The following members were elected to serve as directors:
- Dr. Elena Martin
- Dr. Ashley Smith
- Dr. Ryan Wiliams
- Dr. Rey Worley
SCOPA also recognized Immediate Past President, Dr. Kevin Campbell, for his leadership and service to the association. “Dr. Campbell has been a dedicated advocate for South Carolina’s optometric physicians and the patients they serve,” Dr. Hurd said. “We are grateful for his leadership, his commitment to the profession and the strong foundation he has helped build for SCOPA’s continued work.”
