Mark your calendars for maritime fun as community preps for 37th Annual Wooden Boat Show

As the calendar flips to September, the hope for cooler temperatures and continued outdoor fun prevails in our historic port city. It’s also a reminder that Georgetown’s premier event, the Wooden Boat Show, is just a month-and-a-half away from bringing thousands of locals and tourists to the waterfront and Front Street for weekend full of activities and exhibits to celebrate our rich maritime heritage.
The maritime festival, which will take place October 16-18, serves as the premier awareness and fundraising event for the South Carolina Maritime Museum(opens in new tab). It has also become a strong economic driver for Georgetown, with more than 25,000 people expected to attend the annual event which is entering its 37th year.
We recently sat down with Johnny Weaver, who serves as president of the museum’s board of directors, to learn more about this unique festival.
