Anne Thompson achieves CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification

September 8, 2026

Greenwood Capital recognized Anne Thompson for earning her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation. By earning this credential, Thompson has demonstrated a commitment to providing her clients with comprehensive and effective financial planning services. According to Thompson, the achievement was both a personal and professional milestone.

“Earning the CFP® certification was a deeply personal goal for me. I believe that throughout life, whether you’re 25 or 55, you should never stop pursuing opportunities to grow your knowledge and education. A major motivation was proving to myself, my daughters, and others that I can do hard things and continue to challenge myself, both professionally and personally,” Thompson said. “At the same time, pursuing the CFP® designation was about my commitment to my clients. The in-depth training I received made me better equipped to provide comprehensive guidance so my clients can achieve their financial goals with confidence.”

The CFP® certification is widely recognized as the standard of excellence for the financial planning profession. To become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, advisors must meet rigorous education, examination, experience, and ethical requirements. In addition to over 6,000 hours of professional experience, these requirements include university-level coursework in all areas of financial planning, including risk management, financial psychology, and tax planning.

“Anne’s accomplishment demonstrates our Team’s dedication to providing top-shelf service to our clients,” said Melissa Bane, Senior Private Client Advisor. “The CFP® requires knowledge and education that give us the ability to take a holistic view of the clients’ financial situation. This unique advantage allows us to proactively plan for our clients’ future, often bringing ideas to the forefront that other professionals have overlooked.”

Thompson’s new designation is a testament to the level of expertise and dedication that the Greenwood Capital team brings to serving clients’ financial needs. As a firm, Greenwood Capital prioritizes highly educated and industry-recognized certifications to provide clients with a unique blend of specialized and collaborative expertise while reflecting the latest advancements and best practices. Thompson is the fifth CFP® professional on the team.

“I believe one of Greenwood Capital’s greatest strengths is the collective expertise of our team,” said Walter Todd, President and CIO. “By investing in advanced credentials such as the CFP®, we can provide our clients with financial planning grounded in both experience and education. Anne’s accomplishment reflects our culture of continuous learning and her own dedication to helping clients make informed, confident decisions through every stage of their financial journey.”
