Costumes and trails collide at second annual Trick or Trail 5K in Laurens
September 8, 2026Runners, walkers and anyone willing to log 3.1 miles in a costume will gather at Collyar Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, for the second annual Trick or Trail 5K.
The race begins at 8 a.m. at 100 Collyar Park Drive in Laurens. Entry is $35.
The course splits its distance between pavement and dirt, starting on the road before turning onto the Joe R. Adair trails. Organizers describe the format simply: half road, half trail, all fun.
Costumes are strongly encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for the best of them. Walkers are welcome, and organizers stress that finishing time takes a back seat to the atmosphere.
“This race is built for everybody, whether you’re chasing a personal record or just want an excuse to run through the woods dressed as a dinosaur,” said Grant Powers, a member of GOAT Trail Running. “The costumes are what make it. People show up in full getups, they cheer each other on, and by the finish line nobody cares what the clock says.”
The event is presented by GOAT Trail Running and the Lakelands Region YMCA in Laurens.
Registration is open at runsignup.com/race/sc/laurens/trickortrail5k.
