Leadership Simpsonville class of 2026 launches fundraising campaign to revitalize Alder Park basketball court

The Leadership Simpsonville Class of 2026 has announced a community-driven initiative to renovate the outdoor basketball court at Alder Park, partnering with the Simpsonville Parks and Recreation Department to create a safer, more vibrant recreational space for local youth and families.

Under the motto “Building a Better Court, Building a Stronger Community,” the leadership cohort has launched a public fundraising campaign with a target goal of $15,000 to fully fund the revitalization project.

Located in a central neighborhood setting, Alder Park serves as an everyday gathering hub for nearby residents. Over time, however, wear and exposure have left the outdoor basketball court in need of essential structural and surface upgrades.

Through the collaborative effort with city officials, the Class of 2026 aims to transform the court into an inspiring and durable space designed to encourage healthy activity, youth mentorship, and neighborhood fellowship.

Planned improvements will focus on:

• Resurfacing the court to eliminate cracks and uneven asphalt

• Applying fresh, weather-resistant paint and regulation boundary line striping

• Installing upgraded goals and safety-minded court infrastructure

• Enhancing the surrounding area to ensure a welcoming environment for players and spectators

Every year, participants in the Leadership Simpsonville program—organized through the Simpsonville Area Chamber of Commerce—select and execute a service project addressing a tangible civic need across the Golden Strip.
