Laurens CPW plans systemwide outage early Sunday
September 16, 2026Every Laurens Commission of Public Works electric customer will be without power for several hours early Sunday, Sept. 20, as crews carry out planned grid work.
The outage is scheduled from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and will affect the utility’s entire electric customer base.
The shutdown is part of a joint effort between Laurens CPW and Duke Energy aimed at strengthening the resiliency and reliability of the electric grid serving the area.
Utility officials apologized for the disruption and asked customers with questions or concerns to call the CPW at 864-681-4300.
Customers may want to plan ahead for the four-hour window by charging phones and other devices beforehand, keeping refrigerator and freezer doors closed during the outage and making arrangements for any medical equipment that requires power.
