Poinsettia Drive faces four-week detour as drainage work begins for Downtown Simpsonville Project
September 16, 2026Construction crews with Thrift Development have begun mobilizing along Poinsettia Drive to install critical drainage infrastructure, initiating a four-week traffic detour tied to the ongoing Downtown Simpsonville Project.
The infrastructure improvements will restrict through traffic on Poinsettia Drive between East Curtis Street (Highway 417) and Eastview Drive.
Traffic Impacts & Detour Routes
-
Local Access Only: Poinsettia Drive is limited strictly to local traffic between Eastview Drive and East Curtis Street while underground pipe and drainage work takes place.
-
Through Traffic Detour: Motorists traveling north on Poinsettia Drive toward East Curtis Street are instructed to turn right onto Eastview Drive.
-
Access to East Curtis Street: From Eastview Drive, drivers can reach East Curtis Street by turning left onto either Oakland Avenue or Eastview Drive.
The work forms a key component of the city’s broader downtown revitalization initiative, which involves major traffic realignments and underground utility upgrades throughout the central business district. Drivers traveling through the area are advised to anticipate minor delays, follow posted directional signage, and exercise extra caution around active work zones.
