Health System to Host 3 Flu Clinics During October
As flu season approaches, Bon Secours is helping community members protect themselves and their loved ones by offering free flu vaccines at three upcoming community clinics for adults ages 18 to 64. The health system’s goal is to make preventive care more accessible and reduce the spread of seasonal influenza throughout the Upstate.
Flu vaccines have been shown to prevents millions of illnesses and flu-related doctor’s visits each year. Flu viruses can begin circulating as early as October, making early vaccination an important step in protecting both individual and community health.
The upcoming flu clinics will be held:
Friday, October 2nd
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Sterling Community Center
113 Minus Street, Greenville
Wednesday, October 7th
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Triune Mercy Center
222 Rutherford Street, Greenville
Saturday, October 10th
12 p.m. – Until Supplies Last
St. Sebastian Catholic Church
2300 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville
The flu vaccine will be offered for free on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must be at least 18 to participate. High-dose vaccines for those over the age of 65 will not be available at these clinics.
In addition to getting vaccinated, Bon Secours encourages community members to take other steps to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, including washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, staying home when sick and avoiding close contact with others when experiencing flu-like symptoms.
