Community celebrates Janice Ing’s new Habitat home

Last week’s key presentation marked Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County’s 122nd build.
Members of the Georgetown County community gathered on September 17 to celebrate Janice Ing, an employee of the Georgetown County Bureau of Aging, as she received the keys to her new home through Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County.
Janice joined the nonprofit’s Cottage Program in 2024, and construction on her home began in September 2025. The key presentation brought the journey to a joyful close and recognized the volunteers and supporters who helped make the build possible. 
Members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside Beach, a sponsor of Janice’s home, also attended the celebration.
A Grateful New Beginning
When asked what it meant to finally have the keys to her home, Janice reflected on the faith and community support that carried her through the process.
“I really have to thank God for all this, because He’s made it all work,” Janice said.
Habitat Georgetown extends its thanks to every volunteer who worked on Janice’s home and to the home sponsors: Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside Beach, Publix Charities, Wilson House Fund and the Horry County Home Consortium.
Janice’s cottage is Habitat Georgetown’s 122nd build, adding another milestone to the organization’s decades-long work to expand access to safe, affordable housing in Georgetown County.
For 35 years, Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County has brought people together to help local families build strength, stability and self-reliance through safe, affordable homes. The organization serves Georgetown County by building affordable homes, preserving existing homes, providing public support and offering community programs that help neighbors thrive and remain in the community.
