Democratic candidates to meet with Laurens and Union County residents at Joanna event

Residents of Laurens and Union counties will have an opportunity to meet several Democratic candidates for statewide and local office during a community meet and greet on Tuesday, September 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Joanna Grill in Joanna, South Carolina.

The event is being hosted by Laurens County Democratic Party and Robert L. Williams, Democratic candidate for South Carolina House District 42, a district that includes portions of both Laurens and Union counties. In addition to Williams, several Democratic candidates seeking statewide office are expected to attend:

• DeShawn Blanding, candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture

• Tiffany Boozer, candidate for Comptroller General

• Vincent Coe, candidate for State Treasurer

• Jason Belton, candidate for Secretary of State

The gathering will provide residents with an opportunity to meet candidates in an informal setting and hear directly from those seeking elected office about their campaigns and priorities. The event is also an opportunity for candidates to hear from residents of the communities they hope to represent.

“We want this to be a chance for people to come out, meet the candidates and have real conversations,” Williams said. “Bringing candidates together in Joanna gives people from Laurens and Union counties an opportunity to hear directly from the people who are asking for their vote.”

House District 42 encompasses communities in both Laurens and Union counties, including Joanna, Clinton, Whitmire and Union-area communities.
