Laurens receiver Quinton Watts named Touchdown Club player of the week

The Laurens County Touchdown Club has named Laurens District 55 High School wide receiver and defensive back Quinton Watts its player of the week for games played Friday, Sept. 18.
Watts, a senior, helped lead the Raiders on both offense and defense in a 38-20 homecoming win over Blythewood High School at K.C. Hanna Stadium.
Quinton “Q” Watts had an outstanding night, finishing with three catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdown receptions of 56 and 37 yards, including an electrifying catch and run, helped the Raiders rally from a 14-0 deficit. Watts also recorded three tackles from his cornerback position on defense.
“Watts exemplifies everything it means to be an ideal student-athlete, bringing elite talent, relentless energy and exceptional character to every game,” Raiders head coach Greg Porter said. “A standout multisport athlete, Q makes a game-changing impact on both sides of the ball, stepping up as a sharp, playmaking wide receiver on offense while locking down opponents on defense. Equally committed in the classroom, Q maintains strong grades, proving that true excellence comes from dedication, discipline and leadership in every area.”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Watts at its fourth meeting of the year at noon Thursday, Oct. 1, at The Ridge in Laurens. Groucho’s of Laurens will serve the meal, with the food service line opening at 11:45 a.m. Player of the week awards are presented in 2026 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
The featured speaker for the Oct. 1 meeting will be former University of South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw. Shaw was the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013 and became the winningest quarterback in school history with a 27-5 record. He was a perfect 17-0 as a starter at home and became only the second player in Gamecock history to pass for more than 3,000 yards and rush for more than 1,000 yards in a career.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday during the football season at The Ridge, 301 Exchange Road in Laurens, and the public is invited. All meetings begin at noon, with the food service line opening at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.
