Laurens County Extension Office to host open house Oct. 1 at new Ag Center location

The Laurens County Extension Office is opening its doors to the community with a drop-in open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at its new home, 61 Ag Center Drive in Laurens.
The come-and-go event gives residents a chance to tour the new office, meet the Extension staff and learn about the programs and services available to Laurens County residents. Visitors are welcome to stop by anytime during the day.
“We would be honored to have folks stop by and see the new office,” said Bryan Smith, Laurens County coordinator for Clemson Cooperative Extension. “Come see us.”
The open house follows the office’s relocation this summer. Staff began moving furnishings and files in early June, closing out a stay of nearly 90 years in the office’s previous building, which it had occupied since 1937. At the time of the move, the office said it would hold an open house once the new space was settled.
The new building sits on the old fairgrounds property behind Aldi and Ingles, beside the new Laurens County Ag Center.
The Laurens County Extension Office is part of Clemson University’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences. Extension agents provide research-based information and programs in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, forestry, 4-H youth development, and food safety and nutrition.
The open house will be held at 61 Ag Center Drive, Laurens, SC 29360.
