New Seabrook business turns homemade pasta and bread into a family venture

September 22, 2026

A pasta machine on a kitchen counter and a sourdough starter that took months to develop were the beginnings of Sea Island Dough Company, a family-run food business that opened in August in Seabrook, SC.

Owned by Melissa Sebby, Sea Island Dough Company is a family business with her son, Michael Holland, serving as executive chef. The company was founded on a simple idea: good food starts with good dough.

Based in the Lowcountry, the company makes fresh pasta, breads and sauces in its family kitchen and delivers to customers throughout Beaufort and the Sea Islands, Jasper County, Charleston, Savannah, Georgia, and surrounding communities.

Everything is made fresh to order. Pasta is prepared within 24 hours of delivery, while the company’s breads undergo a 24-hour fermentation process before baking. Sauces are cooked slowly using traditional methods.

The company uses ingredients such as 00 flour, San Marzano tomatoes and other Italian staples, reflecting its focus on traditional Italian flavors and preparation.

Today, Sea Island Dough Company delivers its products throughout its service area, offering customers fresh pasta, artisan breads and sauces made by a local family business. To place an order, visit www.seaislanddough.com.
