Turner Padget’s Arthur E. Justice, Jr. named Greater Florence Chamber Business Person of the Year

Turner Padget shareholder Arthur E. Justice, Jr. has been named the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year, recognizing more than four decades of professional leadership, service to the business community and commitment to the Pee Dee.

Justice was honored at the Chamber’s Annual Membership Luncheon on September 23 at the Florence Center. The annual event brings together business and community leaders from across the region and includes recognition of the Chamber’s Business Person of the Year.

Justice has been deeply involved for more than 4 decades in the Florence business community for more than three decades, including longstanding membership and leadership with the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and local economic development organizations. He has served in leadership roles with Florence County Progress, including as Chairman of the Board, and has been a longtime member and First Vice-Chair of the Florence County Economic Development Authority.

Through this work, Justice has helped advance economic development efforts throughout the region, supporting initiatives to attract new investment, strengthen existing businesses and create jobs and opportunities for the Florence community. His commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Pee Dee has been an important part of his professional and community service.

A Florence attorney for more than 40 years, Justice has built a practice focused on helping businesses navigate complex legal, employment and operational challenges. His experience includes more than 100 cases tried to verdict and extensive work in employment law, economic development incentives and risk management.

Justice has advised businesses and government entities on economic development incentives for decades, helping clients navigate projects representing more than $1 billion in capital investment. His work has included fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreements, incentive packages and other strategies designed to support business investment and job creation in South Carolina.

His experience also extends to employment matters, where he counsels businesses of all sizes on workplace regulations, wage and hour issues, personnel decisions and litigation risk. His litigation background informs a proactive approach to helping clients identify and address potential disputes before they escalate.

In addition to his legal practice, Justice serves as Turner Padget’s general counsel and has been active in the firm’s management. He is also a certified mediator, frequently called upon by fellow attorneys to help resolve complex disputes.

Justice’s professional accomplishments have been recognized throughout his career. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Employment Law – Management since 2017 and Litigation – Labor and Employment Law since 2011. He has also been recognized by South Carolina Super Lawyers in Labor and Employment Law and has received Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating.

His commitment to the community has been equally significant, earning him prestigious awards including the Ashpy P. Lowrimore Award for Community Service from the Greater Florence United Way and the Leadership in the Law award by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He remains active in his community and church and currently leads a ministry that has provided more than 700 beds to local children.

For Justice, the Business Person of the Year recognition reflects the relationships and opportunities that have defined his career.
