Collin Raye brings country hits to Harbison Theatre during Okra Strut Weekend

The multi-platinum country artist takes the stage for an intimate acoustic performance September 25 at 7:30 p.m.
Before the okra starts frying and the festivities get underway, one of country music’s most recognizable voices is helping kick off Okra Strut weekend in Irmo.
Multi-platinum country artist Collin Raye will take the stage at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on Friday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. for an intimate acoustic performance held in conjunction with Irmo’s annual Okra Strut.
Joining Raye for the evening is Becki McLeod, a Nashville-bred singer-songwriter and local performer who will open the show.
Raye’s known for a catalog that helped define country radio throughout the 1990s, Raye has spent more than three decades connecting with audiences through songs including “Love, Me,” “In This Life,” “Little Rock,” “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You.”
At Harbison Theatre, audiences will have the opportunity to experience those familiar songs in a more intimate way. The acoustic format puts Raye’s voice, songwriting and stories at the center of the performance, all within the theatre’s close-to-the-stage setting.
“Okra Strut weekend is such a special time in Irmo, and we love being able to add another experience to everything happening in our community,” said Kristin Cobb, Harbison Theatre Executive Director. “Collin Raye is an artist whose songs have been part of people’s lives for decades, and hearing those songs acoustically in a theatre as intimate as Harbison is going to make this a really special night.”
The annual Okra Strut has become one of Irmo’s signature traditions, bringing residents and visitors together for a weekend of food, entertainment and community festivities. With Harbison Theatre located just minutes from the celebration, Raye’s Friday evening performance offers festivalgoers another way to make a full weekend out of the occasion.
It also reflects Harbison Theatre’s larger role within the community: bringing nationally recognized performers to an intimate stage while remaining closely connected to the events and traditions happening just beyond its doors.
For longtime Raye fans, the evening offers a chance to revisit songs that may have served as the soundtrack to a particular chapter of their lives. For newer listeners, it is an opportunity to discover the stories behind those songs from the artist who made them famous.
Collin Raye Acoustic will take place Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. There are less than 50 tickets remaining.
