Wade Hampton High School students to reveal spirit week fundraising total for the Barbara Stone Foundation

Weeklong student-led fundraiser culminates with check presentation at home football game, 100% of proceeds to benefit the Foundation and its mission to create equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities
WHAT: Each year Wade Hampton High School chooses a local nonprofit organization to support by organizing a week of activities, fundraisers and events, all designed to increase awareness and raise money. The Barbara Stone Foundation was selected as this year’s benefactor for the annual tradition, which is led by student council and fosters a sense of community and school pride among students, staff and faculty. All money raised during Spirit Week will go directly to BSF and will expand access to employment support for individuals with disabilities through the Foundation’s UP Employment Initiative, a workforce program for the inclusive employment of people with disabilities. The week will culminate with a check presentation during halftime of the school’s home football game, where students will reveal the total amount raised for BSF.

WHY: Founded in 1991, the Barbara Stone Foundation works to influence community systems, policies and culture to create equitable opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The Foundation has awarded more than $450,000 through its Community Innovations Grants, launched the UP Employment Initiative, produced CAN Talks, partnered with the City of Greenville to launch Access GVL and convened more than 40 organizations through Greenville CAN.
