Mauldin High students bring spirit week celebration to Washington Center
September 28, 2026Mauldin High School students took their annual spirit week celebration beyond their own campus halls this week, teaming up with students and staff at Washington Center for a high-energy, inclusive pep rally.
As part of their spirit week outreach, a contingent of Mavericks—including varsity football players, cheerleaders, and the Mavettes dance team—visited Washington Center to help lead cheers, pose for photos, and share in the festivities with the student body.
Washington Center, a Greenville County public school serving students with significant intellectual and developmental disabilities, celebrated alongside the visiting athletes and dancers. The gym filled with orange and white as Mauldin students passed out pom-poms, exchanged high-fives, and celebrated with classes across the facility.
“Mauldin High School chose Washington Center as part of its Spirit Week celebration, and today, Mavs brought the spirit!” Greenville County Schools shared in an announcement highlighting the partnership. “Mauldin students joined Washington Center students for their pep rally to make the celebration extra special!”
The visit highlighted a longstanding tradition in Greenville County high schools of using spirit week not only as a campus celebration and fundraising drive, but as an opportunity to build meaningful community partnerships. For students at both campuses, the collaborative pep rally created an unforgettable morning centered on inclusion, connection, and hometown pride.
