Georgetown Walk to End Alzheimer’s returns for third year
September 27, 2026The Alzheimer’s Association is pleased to announce that its third annual Georgetown Community Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 am at the Anthuan Mayback Track, Beck Recreation Center.
According to Deborah Stoner, facilitator of the Georgetown Caregivers Support Group and a community educator, the event aims to raise awareness and support for those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.
“Participation has grown each year, and more than 100 people joined us for last year’s walk,” Stoner said. “We hope even more people will walk with us this year. Registration is free, and everyone is welcome.”
Their fundraising goal for this year’s walk is $25,000.
As a Community Walk, the event cannot have sponsors, but it welcomes donations from local businesses. Stoner said Walmart, Food Lion and several local churches have contributed since the beginning. Those interested in supporting this year’s event may contact her directly by email for additional information.
Partners and vendors will also have information tables on site, where they will share resources for people affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
“If there is one thing I want people on this journey to know, it is that they are not alone,” Stoner said. “We are here with open arms to educate, share resources, encourage one another and walk together.”
