Laurens Academy quarterback Ethan Collins named Touchdown Club Player of the Week

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on Friday, September 25th, the Player of the week is Laurens Academy Senior Quarterback Ethan Collins.
Ethan is a senior quarterback for the Laurens Academy Crusaders and helped lead the Crusaders on offense Friday night in their 42 – 13 win against rival Wardlaw Academy at Todd Kirk Field. The Crusaders remain undefeated on the season with a 5 – 0 record.
Collins threw for 209 yards on a 17 for 20 passing night and two touchdowns. Collins also converted two 2-pt. conversions successfully passing for both of the conversions. Collins also rushed for 28 yards on two carries and a touchdown as well to lead the Crusaders.
Head Coach Jolly Doolittle stated, “It is hard to say anything about Ethan Collins that hasn’t been said already. If you come to our games, you see a skilled, tough, relentless competitor. The reason you see that on Friday is because that is who he is everyday, every week, and every year since I arrived. He is a 360 degree leader in every endeavor he participates. Every coach want to make their players better, Ethan Collins is the kind of player that makes coaches better.”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Collins on October 1st at the fourth Touchdown Club meeting of the year. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens with Groucho’s of Laurens serving the meal and the food service line opening at 11:45 am. Player of the Week awards will be presented in 2026 by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.
Speaking on Thursday, October 1st will be former University of South Carolina football player Frank Hester. Hester played for Coach Jim Morrison and Coach Sparky Woods from 1988 – 1990. Hester later became one of the Team Football Chaplains’ for the Steve Spurrier lead Gamecock years.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
The featured speaker for the TD Club meeting on Thursday, October 1st is Frank Hester who currently serves as the Team Chaplain for the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association and over 5,000 SC Coaches. Hester currently is the long running Lexington County Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as well.
