Mauldin Fire & Rescue to host place of worship safety workshop on Oct. 15

September 30, 2026

Local faith leaders and congregation safety teams will gather next month for specialized hands-on emergency training designed to safeguard houses of worship.

Mauldin Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Pelham Medical Center (a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System), will host a free Place of Worship Safety Workshop on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mauldin First Baptist, located at 150 S. Main St. in Mauldin.

With hundreds of congregants gathering weekly across Golden Strip sanctuaries, emergencies and safety incidents can arise in an instant. The workshop is specifically tailored for pastors, church administrators, and ministry safety volunteers to prepare their facilities and leadership teams for critical medical and situational crises before first responders arrive on the scene.

Attendees will receive practical instruction on several vital emergency response procedures:

  • CPR and Naloxone Administration: Immediate life-support interventions for cardiac arrest and opioid overdose emergencies.

  • First Aid Emergencies: Rapid response and stabilization for sudden injuries and severe medical conditions.

  • Church Safety and Preparedness: Proactive facility safety planning, threat awareness, and protocols to protect congregations during unexpected incidents.

The training is provided free of charge to community faith leaders, but advance registration is required. Participants can register by visiting cityofmauldin.org/fire or by scanning the registration QR code on official event materials.
