Brookgreen Gardens hosts “An Afternoon of Music” featuring the Charleston Symphony String Quartet

Brookgreen Gardens invites music lovers and garden enthusiasts to an intimate concert performance by the Charleston Symphony String Quartet at the Purdy Center Great Hall on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Guests will enjoy a thoughtfully curated program spanning two centuries of classical and modern masterworks. The performance showcases the emotional range and expressive power of the string quartet, featuring selections by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Barber, Carlos Simon, Dvořák, Jay Ungar, and Beatles classics by Lennon & McCartney.
Event Details & Schedule
The event takes place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in the Purdy Center Great Hall at Brookgreen Gardens, located at 1931 Brookgreen Drive, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. Tickets are priced at $20 for members and $25 for non-members. All seating is arranged in a theatre-style setup on a first-come, first-served basis, with doors opening at 3:45 PM.
Festivities begin early with pre-concert refreshments served from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Brookgreen Coffee Bar in the Welcome Center. Attendees can enjoy wine, beer, charcuterie boards, chips, and cookies while relaxing outdoors on the Carl and Marion Perry Veranda Overlook or in the Judith Atkins Wall Courtyard. The music performance runs from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Great Hall, immediately followed by a live Q&A session with the Artistic Director of the Charleston Symphony String Quartet at 5:00 PM.
