October 5, 2026The City of Forest Acres congratulates its Finance Director Brittany Adams on graduating from the South Carolina City and County Management Association’s (SCCCMA) Local Government Leadership Institute.
Adams graduated from the 10th class of the Local Government Leadership Institute (LGLI) earlier this week. The esteemed professional development program focuses on strengthening leadership skills and preparing local government professionals to lead effectively in their communities.
Since joining the City of Forest Acres as Finance Director in March 2025, Adams has played an important role in the city’s continued commitment to sound financial management, transparency and responsible stewardship of public resources.
“Brittany’s commitment to learning, growing and continually strengthening the work we execute daily directly benefits the residents of Forest Acres,” said City Administrator Shaun Greenwood. “Our council fosters a culture of excellence in public service and is committed to making sure we have a staff that works to better themselves.”
Adams’ graduation comes just months after City Administrator Shaun Greenwood completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program through Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education this summer, underscoring Forest Acres’ commitment to developing strong, forward-thinking leaders at every level of the organization.
“Excellence comes from having talented people who are committed to learning, challenging themselves and continually looking for ways to serve their community better,” added Forest Acres Mayor Thomas Andrews. “We are fortunate to have a team that embraces that philosophy.”
A Columbia native, Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA in business administration from Columbia College. She brings more than 12 years of experience in financial management, including eight years of progressive experience in South Carolina state and local government.
Before joining Forest Acres, Adams gained extensive experience in local and state government, with a focus on finance, auditing, retirement benefits and payroll, including positions with Richland County Government and the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA).
Adams is also a current participant in the Governmental Finance Officers Association of South Carolina’s certification program through the University of South Carolina.
Throughout her career, Adams has emphasized the importance of transparency, accuracy and accessibility in government finance – values that continue to guide her work in Forest Acres.
“I’m committed to maintaining the City of Forest Acres’ high standards for financial reporting and transparency as we move forward,” Adams said. “I’m proud of the work we do to provide accurate, efficient and informative financial services to our community.”
The City of Forest Acres congratulates Adams and the 10th class of the Local Government Leadership Institute on this achievement and looks forward to the continued impact of their investment in professional excellence.
