Billboard recognizes USC’s Music Industry Studies Program among nation’s best
October 5, 2026Billboard named the University of South Carolina’s Music Industry Studies Program among the nation’s top music business schools on Oct. 3.
Housed in the USC School of Music, the interdisciplinary program gives students hands-on preparation for careers in recorded music, live production, artist management, marketing, music publishing and more. Established in 2021, the program draws on expertise from the nationally recognized Darla Moore School of Business and the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management.
Students gain real-world experience through opportunities unique to USC, including:
- Greene Street Records, a student-managed record label
- Live @ The Underground, a student-operated music venue
- Industry experience with Danny Wimmer Presents, a major music festival organizer
- The annual Women in Music Conference
- Networking and participation at the National Association of Music Merchandisers’ annual conference in Anaheim, California
While audiences see performances and music videos, successful careers in music require a deep understanding of the business behind the art. USC’s Music Industry Studies Program prepares future industry professionals with knowledge of contracts, distribution, royalties, branding, copyright, taxes, budgeting and financial management.
