United Way of the Piedmont honors Chunsta Miller with 2025-2026 Morgan Award

October 5, 2026

United Way of the Piedmont has named Chunsta Miller the recipient of its 2025-2026 Morgan Award. The organization presented the award on September 29 at its annual Leadership Society Reception, where members of the General Daniel Morgan Leadership Society and the Tocqueville Society gathered with community partners to mark United Way of the Piedmont’s 90th anniversary.

Established in 1986 alongside the General Daniel Morgan Leadership Society, the Morgan Award honors one leadership donor each year whose giving reflects the words inscribed on the award: “One Who Cares.”

Miller serves on the United Way of the Piedmont Board of Directors and takes an active role in the organization’s African American Leadership Society and Women United donor networks. Beyond United Way, Miller also gives her time as Vice President of Communication and Public Engagement at Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina and holds roles on several other boards and committees across the region.

“Chunsta brings people together who might not otherwise be in the same room and motivates them toward shared goals,” said Angela Halstead, United Way of the Piedmont Board Chair-Elect. “She is a true embodiment of the collaborative, connective spirit of United Way.”

United Way of the Piedmont was founded in 1936, when Spartanburg residents and agencies organized a united community campaign. Today, the organization serves Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union counties, where leadership donors help sustain local programs and partnerships.
