Voices of the Beyond: True tales take the stage at “Spirits Among Us”

Get ready for an unforgettable evening where the veil between worlds thins and authentic local experiences take center stage. Georgetown Tidal Tales presents “Spirits Among Us”, a live storytelling showcase featuring six local voices sharing their firsthand encounters with the mysterious, the spiritual, and the unexplained.

Held at Georgetown’s historic Winyah Auditorium, this special event brings together six storytellers who prove that spirit stories come in many forms—from haunting encounters to heartwarming moments of divine grace and youthful misadventure.

Meet the Storytellers

• Echoes Across Time: One storyteller reveals a haunting dynamic that spanned decades, sharing what happened when she came face-to-face with a spirit in her childhood home—only to encounter the very same presence years later in her home in Wedgefield.
• An Answered Prayer: Childhood wonders take on supernatural significance as another storyteller recounts a frankly amazing experience from his youth that directly answered his most fervent prayers.
• Confronting the Dark: Even seasoned authors can be caught off guard. A professional storyteller and published author from Georgetown steps up to share her harrowing encounter when she found herself face-to-face with an evil spirit.
• The Steel Mill Mystery: Industrial history meets the extraordinary in a heavy-duty assignment. Operating a crane tasked with tearing down the melt cast section of the former Georgetown Steel Mill, one crane operator witnessed something astounding unfold amidst the rubble.
• Joy in the Light: Born just days before Halloween, one storyteller was drawn not to the dark or spooky, but to a positive, uplifting spirituality. Growing up in impoverished surroundings, she found richness in faith and life—a joy she continues to share through heartfelt song.
• The Asylum Venture: Taking teenage bravery a step too far, another storyteller revisits the night he and his friends explored a defunct insane asylum. Wanting to up the stakes, they brought along two things no midnight expedition should have: an Ouija board and a self-proclaimed amateur wizard.
