Fountain Inn Church Issues Call for Nonperishable Donations to Restock Community ‘Blessing Box’

October 7, 2026

A grassroots lifeline for local families is running low, and church leaders are asking the community to lend a helping hand.

The Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy recently issued an appeal to neighbors across the Golden Strip after its outdoor “Blessing Box” was left nearly bare. A recent photo shared by the church showed the roadside pantry standing almost empty, holding only a single bag of dried beans and a children’s book.

Rooted in the simple motto of “take what you need, leave what you can,” Blessing Boxes operate 24/7 as an anonymous, immediate food assistance resource for anyone facing temporary hardship or food insecurity. Because they rely entirely on community generosity rather than formal agency budgets, seasonal demand can quickly deplete available supplies.

The church is welcoming donations of shelf-stable nonperishable items. High-need staples typically include:

  • Canned goods (soups, stews, vegetables, fruit, tuna, chicken)

  • Boxed pasta, macaroni and cheese, and rice

  • Peanut butter and jelly

  • Breakfast cereals and oatmeal

  • Individual snacks and kid-friendly items

Community members wishing to contribute can drop off nonperishable food items directly into the outdoor Blessing Box at the church grounds, located at 801 Quillen Ave. in Fountain Inn.
