Fill the Cruisers donation drive supports Greenville County students experiencing homelessness

October 8, 2026

Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville County Schools and the Greenville Police Department will collect winter clothing, blankets and food pantry items Friday, Oct. 16.

Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville County Schools (GCS) and the Greenville Police Department are teaming up to host Fill the Cruisers, a community donation drive Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the arena box office.

Donations will provide assistance to students and families experiencing homelessness across the district. A GCS school bus will be on-site at the box office, and organizers are inviting the community to help “Fill the Bus.”

“Winter can be a challenging season for many families across our district, but the true strength of Greenville has always been our deep commitment to one another. Programs like Fill the Cruisers remind our students and families that they are never alone. By coming together to share essential winter gear, we aren’t just keeping our kids warm; we are wrapping them in a blanket of community care and showing them that their safety and well-being are our top priority,” said Sgt. Munoz of the Greenville Police Department.

Requested items include blankets, food pantry items, gloves, hats, jackets, socks and underwear.

These necessities help ease some of the challenges families face during housing instability and allow parents to redirect financial resources toward other essential needs. Food donations will also help sustain the GCS Food Pantry, which provides food boxes to families experiencing food insecurity.

“Donations will provide immediate assistance to students and families experiencing homelessness throughout Greenville County Schools. Providing students with clean clothing, warm blankets, and access to food helps promote dignity, health, comfort, and school readiness. Through these donations, we are able to address immediate needs while helping ensure that housing instability does not become a barrier to a student’s education and academic success,” said Irene Hamilton Jones of Greenville County Schools.

Donations will be accepted outside the arena box office from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
