Town of Andrews awarded $5,000 Main Street Revitalization Grant for historic community center
October 12, 2026The Town of Andrews has been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support local downtown revitalization efforts.
The funding will directly assist with facade improvements to the town’s historic community center, marking a major milestone in Andrews’ ongoing downtown master plan. By prioritizing the enhancement of the community center’s exterior, local leaders aim to preserve the building’s historical character while fostering a more vibrant, inviting environment for residents, local businesses, and visitors.
The grant is part of a broader statewide initiative by the Duke Energy Foundation, which is investing nearly $200,000—specifically $190,000 across 22 South Carolina municipalities and organizations—to strengthen downtown districts, neighborhood centers, and commercial corridors. Individual grants of up to $10,000 were awarded to fund facade improvements, wayfinding signage, public gathering spaces, and small business incentive programs or microgrants.
“Strong communities start with vibrant places where people can connect and support one another,” said Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy South Carolina. “Through our Main Street revitalization grants, we’re helping communities invest in the projects that matter most to them. These investments can make a meaningful difference in creating places that support residents, encourage economic growth and improve quality of life for the people who call these places home.”
With the grant secured, facade design and planning for the historic community center will move forward in alignment with the town’s master plan goals.
