Lumberyard opens for lunch with new Sanitary Market Outpost in Clinton
October 14, 2026Clinton residents now have a new spot for lunch, along with local meats, ready-made meals and farm-fresh staples. The Sanitary Market Outpost at the Lumberyard is now open six days a week, bringing a selection of the Laurens market’s best sellers to Clinton.
The Outpost carries grab-and-go meals, take-and-bake dinners and individual heat-and-eat meals, along with local beef, dairy and eggs. Shelves also feature local coffee, honey, elderberry products and peanut butter, plus cold beer, sodas and tea.
Ryland Culbertson of the Sanitary Market said the goal is to give Clinton shoppers easy access to the products Laurens customers already rely on.
“We wanted to start with the items people come back for again and again,” Culbertson said. “From there, we’re going to build our inventory slowly based on what Clinton tells us it wants.”
Recent grab-and-go offerings have included an ahi tuna poke bowl built on a quinoa and black rice base with wasabi soy ahi tuna, shredded carrots, cucumber, pickled red onions and a chipotle sriracha mayo. A Southwestern chicken bowl pairs brown rice, onions and peppers with pan-seared chicken breast and house-made ranch. Local tomahawk steaks are also available.
The Outpost is also rolling out made-to-order lunch specials, beginning with Taco Tuesday.
The expansion also means the Lumberyard is now open for lunch. Following a well-attended opening day, the Lumberyard’s full menu, including its burgers and wings, is available starting at 11 a.m., giving the lunch crowd a sit-down option. Diners who are short on time can pick up a meal from the Outpost’s grab-and-go selection.
Sourdough bread is another item shoppers can look for, though production at the Laurens location is limited for now. Culbertson said the market plans to work toward a more permanent solution over the next few months.
The Sanitary Market Outpost is located inside the Lumberyard in Clinton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 9 a.m. until closing Wednesday through Friday, staying open through dinner; and 3 p.m. until closing Saturday. Updates on daily specials are posted on the Lumberyard’s Facebook page.
