Clinton’s Angelo Cromer named Laurens County Touchdown Club Player of the Week

October 19, 2026

The Laurens County Touchdown Club has named Clinton High School senior Angelo Cromer its Player of the Week for games played Friday, Oct. 16.

Cromer, a running back, defensive back and special teams player for the Clinton High School Red Devils, led his team to a hard-fought 46-34 win over Mountain View Prep in Region II-AA play.

Cromer rushed for a career-high 250 yards on 29 carries with one touchdown and added a key two-point conversion. He plays on both sides of the ball and on special teams, rarely leaving the field. On defense, he recorded 4.5 tackles and broke up several passes.

“Angelo has been working hard in our program since the seventh grade,” Clinton head coach Corey Fountain said. “He never comes off the field and leaves everything he has on the field every game! It’s great to see his hard work and dedication translating to the field on Friday nights.”

The Touchdown Club will honor Cromer Thursday, Oct. 29, at its sixth meeting of the year. The meeting will begin at noon at The Ridge in Laurens, with Big Air of Laurens serving the meal and the food line opening at 11:45 a.m. Player of the Week awards for 2026 are presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

The Oct. 29 meeting will feature legendary Clemson University coach Danny Ford, who led the Tigers to their first national championship in 1981, becoming the youngest head coach in college football history to win a national title. Ford coached at Clemson from 1978 to 1989, compiling a 96-29-4 record and winning five ACC titles in addition to the national championship.

Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County Player of the Week awards will also be presented for the Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 high school football games. Coaches from the local high school teams and Presbyterian College will give recaps of their seasons.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday during the football season at The Ridge, 301 Exchange Road in Laurens. The public is invited. Tickets are $20 at the door. All meetings begin at noon, with the food line opening at 11:45 a.m.
