The Fountain Inn Fire Department is celebrating a significant leadership milestone within its ranks following the graduation of firefighter Thomas Williams from the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Fire Officer Academy (FOA Class 26-02).

The Fire Officer Academy: The Company Officer is an intensive, multi-phase leadership curriculum conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Fire Academy. Operating in an immersive, platoon-style environment, the program is designed to test and elevate current and rising company officers across the state. Instruction focuses heavily on tactical decision-making under stress, fireground incident command, conflict resolution, accountability, and ethical leadership both on the scene and within the station.

Williams completed the demanding course after undergoing a rigorous selection process that requires candidates to hold prerequisite officer certifications and submit recommendations from department leadership.

Agency officials praised Williams’ dedication to professional growth, noting that the leadership training directly enhances emergency operations and community protection across the Golden Strip.

“Through dedication, perseverance, and hard work, Thomas completed an intensive program designed to develop leadership skills both on and off the fireground,” the Fountain Inn Fire Department shared in an announcement honoring the achievement. “This achievement reflects his commitment to serving our community and growing as a leader within the fire service.”
