Mauldin announces sanitation route changes for January 2027 as city growth prompts system overhaul
October 26, 2026In an effort to keep pace with rapid residential growth and streamline municipal operations, the City of Mauldin has announced an upcoming reorganization of its residential sanitation routes.
Beginning January 11, 2027, trash and recycling pickup routes operating Tuesday through Friday will shift, resulting in new collection days for approximately 20 percent of households throughout the city. Monday collection routes will remain unchanged.
Efficiency and Regional Clustering
According to the Mauldin Public Works Department, the route adjustments are designed to maximize efficiency as new residential developments and routes are integrated into the city’s service grid.
Under the updated logistics plan, collection trucks will be clustered within designated geographical regions of the city each day. The restructuring aims to eliminate cross-town transit between stops, reducing fuel consumption, cutting idle equipment time, and easing wear and tear on city vehicles.
How Residents Will Be Notified
To prepare affected neighborhoods well in advance of the winter changeover, the city is rolling out a two-stage direct notification process:
-
Door Hangers: Homes slated for a schedule adjustment will receive physical informational door hangers twice before the launch—first in early November and again in early December.
-
Street-by-Street List: Residents can review a complete alphabetical street listing detailing collection days at tinyurl.com/mauldinsanitation.
-
Interactive Route Map: An online digital map showing boundary lines and pickup days effective Jan. 11, 2027, is accessible at arcg.is/1y8a9r2.
