Sen. Tim Scott highlights $84 million in relief for South Carolina farmers as Working Families Tax Cuts provision takes effect
October 27, 2026U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C) released the following statement highlighting a provision of the Working Families Tax Cuts (WFTC) taking effect to provide relief to farmers facing unexpected revenue losses and seasons when crop prices fall short.
The Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs provide farmers greater certainty and protect them from significant income losses caused by fluctuating harvests and unexpected revenue shortfalls. The two programs will bring approximately $84 million in benefits to South Carolina families because of the Working Families Tax Cuts, which is $38 million more than Palmetto State farmers received previously.
“Since America’s founding, farmers have embodied the best of our nation, working from sunrise to sunset to put food on our tables,” said Sen. Scott. “The Working Families Tax Cuts are providing much-needed relief for South Carolina’s hardworking farmers by supporting producers when crop prices fluctuate and harvests fall short. By modernizing the ARC and PLC programs, we will ensure that farms in South Carolina and across the country continue to be powerhouses for local economies and communities.”
