Kids On Point announces first permanent campus in North Charleston

October 29, 2026

Kids On Point announces plans to build its first permanent home, an independent youth development facility at 3725 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. The project was made possible by Jessica and Todd Aaron, who acquired and will be donating the land for the new campus. The Aarons also made an anchor investment towards the construction of the project.

The purpose-built facility will be designed around the needs of young people and families, and will serve as a community hub where partners, neighbors, and organizations can connect and collaborate. Community input will remain a priority as plans take shape, ensuring the space reflects and responds to the needs of North Charleston. The new campus will allow Kids On Point to double the number of students it serves each year, opening the door for hundreds more young people and their families to take part in year-round programming.

The site, at the intersection of Rivers and McMillan Avenues, was selected for its accessibility to the families Kids On Point serves. Located along a major public transit route and near the forthcoming Shipwatch Square Transit and Workforce Center, the campus will reduce transportation barriers and connect more students and families to consistent, high-quality programming.

“Under Lauren’s leadership, Kids On Point has earned our trust through years of thoughtful, consistent service to children and families. A permanent home will allow them to reach more young people, expand programs, and deepen their community impact,” said Jessica and Todd Aaron. “This is an investment in an organization we believe in, a community we care about, and a future we’re excited to help build.”

“Jessica and Todd have given Kids On Point both the ground to build on and the investment to build it,” said Lauren Herterich, Executive Director of Kids On Point. “Their commitment to the young people of North Charleston is a vote of confidence in what our students, families, and partners have built together. This campus gives us room to grow, to say yes to more families, and to keep showing up for students every day for decades to come.”

“The Rivers Avenue Corridor has long been a priority for our city, and this partnership reflects the progress we want to see. Jessica and Todd Aaron recognize the potential we’ve always known exists here, and Kids On Point has a proven record of creating opportunities for children and families,” said Mayor Reggie Burgess, City of North Charleston. “I’m grateful for their investment and their commitment to keeping our community at the table every step of the way.”

Kids On Point currently operates at the College of Charleston, a vital partnership that has been at the heart of the organization’s work for 16 years. That site will remain fully operational alongside the new North Charleston campus. Kids On Point is deeply grateful to the College of Charleston for its longstanding commitment to the students and families Kids On Point serves, and for opening its campus, facilities, and community to young people across the region. The College’s partnership has shaped who Kids On Point is today and will continue to be central to its work for years to come.

The North Charleston campus will expand Kids On Point’s reach across the tri-county region as demand and program waitlists continue to grow. Kids On Point invites community members to join the conversation early and share their vision for the space.

Kids On Point got its start in 2009, when a group of dedicated community leaders recognized a growing need for year-round after-school and summer programs within Charleston’s public school systems. Today, in partnership with more than 60 community organizations, Kids On Point serves more than 500 students each year from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with a 91% retention rate.
