Hurley seeks Area 2, Seat 3 on PRTC board of directors

Laurens County native Brandon Hurley is asking Piedmont Rural Telephone Cooperative members for their support as he campaigns for the Area 2, Seat 3 position on the cooperative’s board of directors. Members will cast their votes Saturday, Nov. 7.

Hurley, a lifelong resident of Laurens County, said serving the community where he grew up has always been a priority, and it is also where he and his family have chosen to make their home.

“Laurens County is where I was raised and where my wife and I are raising our family,” Hurley said. “I’ve always believed in giving back to the place that shaped me, and serving on the PRTC board is another way to do that.”

Before attending college, Hurley worked in the Electric Department at Laurens CPW, where he gained hands-on experience in power line maintenance and construction. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Clemson University. While completing his degree, he founded Bar H Cattle LLC in 2001, and after graduation he turned his passion for agriculture into a full-time career as a first-generation beef cattle producer.

His wife of 15 years, Eva, owns a State Farm Insurance agency. Hurley said running two local businesses has given the couple a firsthand understanding of how much residents and companies depend on reliable utilities and technology.

“When you build a business from the ground up, you learn quickly that trust is everything,” Hurley said. “Our customers and community partners count on us, and the same is true for PRTC members who count on dependable service every day. I want to help make sure the cooperative continues to earn that trust.”

Hurley’s community involvement extends well beyond his businesses. He currently serves as president of the Laurens County Cattlemen’s Association, chairman of deacons at Lanford Baptist Church, and as a board member for both the South Carolina Beef Council and the Laurens County Farm Bureau.

“I’m grateful for every member who takes the time to vote,” Hurley said. “I would appreciate their support on Nov. 7.”

The drive-through election will be held at Laurens Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Members should bring their voting card and a photo ID, both of which are required. If the account holder is unable to attend, a spouse or another adult in the household may participate in the cooperative election on the member’s behalf.
