American Revolution Experience now open at Laurens County Museum for a limited time
November 2, 2026The American Revolution Experience, a traveling exhibit that brings the story of the nation’s founding to life, is now open at the Laurens County Museum and will remain in downtown Laurens through Nov. 12.
The exhibit opened Oct. 31 at the museum, 116 S. Public Square in Laurens. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is closed Sunday and Monday. Admission to the museum is free.
The Sullivan-Dunkin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust are presenting the exhibit locally, with the Laurens County Museum serving as host.
The pop-up exhibition pairs display panels with interactive digital kiosks. Through storytelling, illustration, technology and firsthand accounts from the period, the exhibit helps visitors connect with the men and women, as well as the places, that shaped the birth of the United States.
Also on view alongside the exhibit is “Behethland’s Loom,” an award-winning piece by South Carolina artist Andie Thompson made from 528 used tea bags. The work honors Thompson’s ancestor Behethland Butler, recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a South Carolina heroine of the war, whose family once lived along the Little River in what is now Laurens County.
With only a short window remaining, museum officials are encouraging residents, families, school groups and homeschool students to plan a visit before the exhibit moves on to its next location.
The exhibit comes as communities across the country, including Laurens County, continue to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
