Alvin L. Wilson DAV chapter 1 to host 5K ‘Walk, Run, Roll’ at Mauldin Veterans Park Memorial
November 4, 2026In an effort to honor local service members and rally Upstate support for injured heroes, the Alvin L. Wilson Chapter 1 of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) will host the Team Disabled American Veterans South Carolina 5K Walk, Run, Roll on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
The inclusive, family-friendly event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Park Memorial on the grounds of the Mauldin Cultural Center, located at 101 E. Butler Road. Designed to welcome participants of all mobility levels, the 5K invites runners, walkers, and wheelchair participants alike to cross the finish line together under the DAV’s guiding motto: Honor, Serve, Empower.
Veterans, military families, local organizations, and community supporters from across the Upstate are encouraged to lace up their shoes or roll out in support.
The morning will begin with a solemn opening ceremony that includes the Pledge of Allegiance, the playing of Taps during a moment of silence for fallen comrades, course instructions, and an invocation. Following a commemorative team photo and refreshments, participants will take to the 5K route.
The event will conclude with an awards presentation featuring finisher medals, followed by special remarks delivered by Chapter 1 Commander Tony T. Cunningham.
“Together we make a difference,” organizers shared, emphasizing that the event serves both as a celebration of camaraderie and an essential effort to ensure disabled veterans receive the community advocacy, care, and resources they have earned.
Advance registration is currently open online at www.support.dav.org/teams/DAVSouthCarolina.
