Bobbitt Design Build Selected as Construction and Project Management Contractor for $50 Million Open Living Community Senior Care Facility
January 5, 2010COLUMBIA, SC – January 5, 2010 – Senior Matters has selected Bobbitt Design Build, LLC, to provide complete construction and project management services for the new Open Living Community facility to be constructed in the 5400 block of Farrow Road in Columbia. Senior Matters and Bobbitt have been working closely with the City of Columbia to coordinate the project and help create the environment for the development of the 10-acre tract.
Construction on the $50 million project is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2010. The state-of-the-art facility will be a model to support the growing senior population in South Carolina.

The five-story building will be designed and constructed with the goal of obtaining a LEED Silver Certification. Totaling 254,000 square feet and located within the 10-acre campus, the facility will consist of 146 living units designed for an open living environment and a main level with approximately 30,000 square feet of commercial space that will support the community lifestyle.
