Bon Secours announces temporary practice closures health system moving to more virtual visits

March 30, 2020

In our continuing effort to put the safety of our patients, associates, providers and communities first, Bon Secours has worked to expand virtual care options to make it possible for patients to stay connected to their provider.

As the situation around coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we know that being connected to your provider is more important than ever before.

We are excited to offer the following virtual health options, each of which provides our patients individualized care with their provider:

  • Video Visits. A video visit offers face-to-face medical care from the comfort of your home. This scheduled appointment allows you to receive an online diagnosis through a video chat with your provider, instead of a traditional in-office visit. Patients can call their provider’s office today to schedule a video visit OR change an upcoming appointment to a video visit!
  • E-visits. Through a MyChart E-visit, you can receive an online diagnosis and treatment plan for non-urgent conditions. E-visits are not scheduled, so you can ‘Begin an E-visit’ at any time of day. You will be prompted to answer a series of questions and describe your symptoms. Once your Bon Secours Medical Group provider reviews this information alongside your medical history, you’ll receive a message with the recommended treatment plan. No online video or chats necessary!

These options will enable an appointment to be conducted from the comfort of a patient’s own home, rather than a traditional office-based visit.

In our continuing effort to put the safety of our patients, associates, residents and communities first, patients who have currently scheduled appointments in our practices may be asked to change their appointments to a virtual care option where appropriate. In addition, new patient appointments might also be scheduled through a virtual platform.

In addition, Bon Secours will be temporarily consolidating a number of our physician practices. For any patient appointments that require face to face visits per the provider’s guidance, the patient will be guided to one of the open practices in each of our communities. During this time, the practice you are guided to may not be your typical provider’s location.

If patients have any questions about how this might affect their care, they should call their provider to discuss their individualized care plan.

Patients with symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or those with concerns about either the flu or other viral conditions including COVID-19, should contact their primary care provider’s office for assistance or go to one of our flu clinics. Locations can be found on our dedicated COVID-19 page on bonsecours.com.

The health and safety of our patients and communities remains our top priority.
