August 7, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC – September 6, 2013 – Frank Abagnale, Jr., the former con man played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the hit Spielberg film, Catch Me If You Can, will speak at a luncheon to benefit the South Carolina Victim Assistance Network on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 701 Whaley.

Over 40 years ago, Mr. Abagnale was known as one of the world’s most famous confidence men. Now, he has worked as a consultant with the FBI for the past 30 years as an expert on identity theft, forgery, embezzlement and secure documents.

Dignitaries will attend to honor the life of recently deceased Assistant U.S. Attorney Dean Eichelberger, our state’s premier prosecutor of identity theft criminals. Dean was instrumental in helping SCVAN develop its Statewide ID Theft Coalition.

The SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and The SC Sheriff’s Association are also hosting the luncheon.
