Two Fun Events for Kids and Teens This August

The Laurens County Library System is keeping things cool this August with two fun, free programs designed to inspire creativity, encourage healthy habits, and bring smiles to young faces.

Fruity Fans – Beat the Heat with a Hand-Crafted Breeze

  • Date: Monday, August 11

  • Time: 4:00–5:00 PM

  • Location: Laurens Branch – 1017 West Main Street, Laurens, SC 29360

  • Ages: 6–10

Children ages 6–10 are invited to get crafty at the Laurens Branch during Fruity Fans, a creative program where participants will make their own colorful hand-held fans using paper, Popsicle sticks, and a bit of imagination. Led by library staff member Samantha Hobbs, this hands-on activity is perfect for sparking creativity while staying cool on a summer afternoon.

Sip Smart!: DIY Infused Water – A Fresh Take on Hydration

  • Date: Thursday, August 14

  • Time: 4:00–5:00 PM

  • Location: Clinton Branch – 304 West Pitts Street, Clinton, SC 29325

  • Ages: 4–17

The fun continues at the Clinton Branch with Sip Smart!: DIY Infused Water. In this refreshing workshop, special guest Sharon Lone from Clemson SNAP-Ed will guide participants in mixing fruits, herbs, and water to create their own infused drinks. Open to kids and teens ages 4–17, the event offers a fun and tasty way to learn about hydration, nutrition, and healthy choices.
