Central Carolina Community Foundation Calls for Best of Philanthropy Nominations

June 24, 2013

COLUMBIA, SC – June 24, 2013 – Central Carolina Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization serving 11 counties in the Midlands by helping charitable individuals and businesses meet the needs of our community, is calling for nominees for the 4th Annual Best of Philanthropy Awards.

Over the past three years, we have been amazed and inspired by the community champions who have received our Best of Philanthropy Awards, said JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. We have had the opportunity to recognize many individuals, businesses and families who give of their time, talent and treasure to make the Midlands a better place to live. We hope that members of our community will embrace this opportunity to nominate co-workers, friends and associates who are making a significant contribution to our community by helping others in need.

Best of Philanthropy winners will have a $500 donation made in their name to the nonprofit organization of their choice in the Foundation’s 11-county service area in the Midlands. All winners will be recognized at the Foundation’s annual celebration on November 14, 2013 as well as featured in the November issue of Columbia Metropolitan Magazine.

Nominations will be judged by the community needs addressed by the nominee’s efforts; accomplishments generated by the nominee; and what sets them apart from other individuals.

To nominate, visit www.YourFoundation.org and, in 500 words or less, highlight the persistent effort of the person(s) to address areas of need in our community via their own involvement and participation. Nominations should give a clear demonstration of the specific impact and outcomes from those efforts. This can include fundraising efforts, but is not limited to monetary donations.

Nominations will be accepted through July 12, 2013 in the following categories:

– Local Business

– Student or Student Group

– Family

– Group

– Individual

You don’t have to be wealthy to be a philanthropist, said Turnquist. Through the Best of Philanthropy Awards, we shine the spotlight on people throughout our community who help others without asking for anything in return.

Central Carolina Community Foundation’s 11-county service area includes Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Richland, Newberry, Orangeburg, Saluda and Sumter counties.
