City Public and Media Relations awarded for public education campaign

The City of Columbia Public and Media Relations Department was recognized at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Public Relations received the 2016 International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Award for the public education campaign known as “#KnowYourCity”. The Public and Media Relations Department began this new public education campaign by sharing some basics about our most frequently asked questions; hscreen-shot-2016-11-16-at-12-16-45-pmowever, their efforts to keep the community informed did not stop there. The Public and Media Relations Department is nationally recognized for outstanding social media practices.

Every month, the Public and Media Relations Department focused on a specific topic of interest about the City of Columbia and shared facts, statistics and details that the citizens of Columbia may not be aware of.

#KnowYourCity is featured on the City’s Instagram page every Wednesday at 12 p.m. The first person that responds with the correct answer wins a prize from the Public and Media Relations Department.
