CLEMSON, SC – April 27, 2009 –  Eight graduate programs in Clemson University’s College of Engineering and Science are among the nation’s 40 best with three of them in the top 25, according to the 2010 edition of U.S.News & World Report’s Guidebook of Graduate Programs.

Each program was ranked against similar programs at all national doctoral-granting public universities. Clemson’s environmental engineering and science program is ranked 19th among the best environmental engineering graduate programs in the nation.

The biomedical/bioengineering program is ranked 22nd, up one spot from last year. Industrial/manufacturing engineering earned a spot at number 24 in its category. Civil engineering ranks 32nd, also up one. Computer engineering is ranked 34th, mechanical engineering 38th, chemical engineering 39th and electrical engineering jumped seven spots to 32.

Having eight of our graduate degree programs ranked among the top 40 in U.S.News & World Report, with three in the top 25, underscores Clemson’s reputation as a top engineering school. This also underscores that Clemson graduate students are conducting top-quality research and receiving a high-quality, world-class education,” said Esin Gulari, dean of the College of Engineering and Science.
